Deputy Home Manager Hertfordshire
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
- Deputizing in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Supporting and managing staff to meet the needs of children and young people.
- Undertaking direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
- Managing child protection concerns and complaints.
- Working in partnership with other professionals for optimum outcomes for young people.
- Offering supervision and support to senior staff in line with National Minimum Standards.
- Ensuring each young person has an allocated key worker.
- Ensuring staff are aware of each childs placement plan and their responsibilities.
- Attending childcare reviews and planning meetings.
- Undertaking direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role model.
- Assisting in developing systems for young peoples consultation on care quality.
- Maintaining accurate records in logs, continuation sheets, and files.
- Working in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to safeguard and promote welfare.
- Chairing childrens meetings and facilitating consultation.
- Acting as an appropriate adult at PACE interviews.
- Providing managerial control and direction in relation to staff duties.
- Assisting with recruitment and retention, including new staff induction.
- Supervising new starters during probation.
- Developing a management style balancing control and direction with staff decision-making.
- Planning and ensuring smooth running of shifts.
- Providing consultation, advice, and support to staff.
- Offering 1:1 supervision to staff.
- Identifying and progressing individual staff training and development.
- Undertaking annual staff appraisals.
- Addressing issues related to conduct and competence of staff.
- Conducting management investigations when required.
- Assisting the Registered Manager in promoting personal and professional development.
- Contributing to team and staff meetings.
- Ensuring staff work within Home policies, procedures, and National Minimum Standards.
- Ensuring adequate staffing levels.
- Ensuring effective budget management and financial monitoring.
- Ensuring company vehicles are clean and maintained.
- Monitoring building fabric and taking remedial action.
Skills and Expertise
- Secondary Education with good literacy and numeracy
Job Facilities/Benefits
- Basic salary of 14.52 – 15.24 per hour plus 30 per sleep in (when required)
- Blend of 9-5 working/shift working to meet the needs of the home.
- Rota given 4 weeks in advance.
