Key Responsibilities
- Implement and deliver a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum.
- Monitor and support student progress and development.
- Facilitate a learning experience that fosters individual potential.
- Contribute to raising student attainment.
- Support the academy’s responsibility for personal and academic growth.
- Operational and strategic planning (lesson planning, resources, syllabuses, departmental plan).
- Curriculum planning.
- Staff development (CPD, Performance Management Review).
- Quality assurance (monitoring and evaluating the subject area).
- Management of information (records, student progress).
- Communications with students, parents, and stakeholders.
- Pastoral system (form tutor).
- Teaching, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
Skills and Expertise
- QTS (or equivalent) and relevant undergraduate degree.
- Successful secondary teaching experience (teaching practice acceptable).
- Experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and 11-18 schools (preferred).
- Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory.
- Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements (KS3, KS4, KS5).
- Lesson planning, resource development, and student assessment.
- Teamwork and positive relationship building.
- Good ICT skills, including interactive whiteboards.
- Motivating and creating a safe learning environment.
- Positive communication with parents, carers, and external agencies.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Effective time management and leadership.
- Motivating students and raising aspirations.
