Key Responsibilities

  • Enter patient details accurately on the phlebotomy system.
  • Provide a helpful and professional service to patients and healthcare staff.
  • Check patient demographics prior to procedure, ensuring request forms are completed accurately.
  • Explain procedure and put patient at ease, gaining implied consent.
  • Perform venepuncture using established protocols.
  • Ensure blood samples are accurately labelled with patient demographics.
  • Ensure laboratories receive timely, high-quality blood specimens in appropriate tubes.
  • Ensure patient recovery before leaving clinic or phlebotomist leaving the patients home.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties within the department and report any equipment damage.
  • Inform the phlebotomy manager of equipment needs.
  • Liaise with line manager regarding training needs.
  • Cover community dermatology clinics and support other teams as needed.
