Community Nursery Nurse – Central London
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the link 0-19 professional for identified PVIs as per local arrangements.
- Attend and actively participate in team, locality, and relevant meetings.
- Care for and safely keep issued equipment, reporting any defects or losses.
- Be an active member of working parties and groups (e.g., shared governance, quality improvement).
- Promote the health visiting service and contribute to service development activities.
- Carry out Healthy Child Programme activities as delegated by the Health Visitor, acting on initiative as appropriate to knowledge level.
- Advise parents/carers on positive parenting skills, including child behaviour, nutrition, play, speech, sleep, and toilet training, ensuring evidence-based advice for school readiness.
- Support families in understanding developmental milestones (gross and fine motor skills).
- Work with specific children and families in home, clinic, or school/nursery settings according to individual care plans.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion activities, taking responsibility for specific topics post-training.
- Collaborate with Childrens Centres, nurseries, parents, Primary Health Care Team members, and other agencies.
Skills and Expertise
- Knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme (DH 2009).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with parents and families.
- Experience supporting children’s development.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion activities.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
