Child and Family Support Worker
Key Responsibilities
- Work with children in school when vulnerability is noted.
- Undertake joint work and interventions with families, schools, other practitioners, and outside agencies.
- Support children’s social development, leading social groups when appropriate.
- Signpost families to other services as needed.
- Contribute to statutory reviews, Child Protection Conferences, and other meetings; reporting on work and providing written reports.
- Work with children in engaging and flexible ways, adapting to individual needs.
- Undertake Learning Support Assistant role one-to-one or in small groups as needed.
- Maintain accurate monitoring data and up-to-date case records (manual and computer).
- Report signs of neglect, injury, or concern to the Head Teacher immediately.
- Commit to self-development and ongoing training, including facilitating targeted training for parents and colleagues.
- Fully participate in performance management, supervision, and peer support.
Skills and Expertise
- Experience working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport with children and families.
- Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records.
- Experience working collaboratively with various professionals.
- Proven ability to facilitate learning support.
- Understanding of Child Protection Conferences and other related processes.
