Bank Pharmacist
Key Responsibilities
- Providing safe, efficient pharmaceutical services, including in-patient and out-patient dispensary cover.
- Rotating between different areas based on service needs and providing extended support during periods of increased demand.
- Delivering clinical pharmacy services to designated wards, supporting doctors and nurses with expert advice on drug use and treatment strategies.
- Monitoring prescriptions, performing therapeutic drug management, and counselling patients.
- Working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless pharmaceutical care during patient admissions and discharges.
- Supporting the implementation of safe and evidence-based prescribing practices.
- Ensuring patients receive timely access to their medications, overseeing the reuse of patients’ own drugs and self-administration programs on the wards to promote efficient discharge processes.
- Mentoring junior pharmacy staff, including pre-registration pharmacists, and contributing to clinical pharmacy training courses for nursing and medical staff.
- Participating in the development and delivery of induction, education, and training programs for other healthcare professionals.
- Assisting in the development, planning, and auditing of pharmaceutical services.
- Being involved in quality improvement projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and reducing expenditure.
- Adhering to the Trust’s policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety, infection prevention, and safeguarding requirements.
Skills and Expertise
- MPharm or equivalent, with current registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Post-registration experience, particularly within hospital pharmacy
- Familiarity with EPMA systems and experience in providing clinical pharmacy services to wards
- Excellent clinical knowledge, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to manage data effectively
- Demonstrates leadership and initiative, with a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)
