Warlingham Day Nursery ltd
What started out as childminding in 2014 just kept on growing. And in 2022 we became a fully fledged day nursery. Now with over 14 staff, we’re looking for a Baby Room Leader to work with our experienced assistants.
Above all, we put children first. This is echoed in our staff code of conduct, and in everything we do. As we grow we’re working hard to empower and enable our staff to do what they do best – play, love, teach and care for all those around them. We make sure no one is tied down with red tape, form filling or endless tick box exercises. Care and learning goes hand in hand with smiles, fun, play and laugher with us. We don’t micro-manage so the role would suit someone who is a do-er, who is self motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active.
As our Baby Room Leader, you’ll float through nappy changes and food spills with grace. Your aura will emit a soothing glow, calming even the fussiest little bundles of joy. You’ll step into a realm of wide-eyed wonder and amazement. Your wand (okay, maybe it’s an iPad) will weave spells of organisation, kindness, and curiosity.
Here are some of the enchanting things you’ll be doing:
Spellbinding Leadership:
Organise and manage the day-to-day activities within the room
Supervise and support nursery practitioners, ensuring high-quality care and learning experiences
Lead by example, demonstrating positivity, professionalism and a caring attitude to all
Ensure each baby’s day is showered with stardust, and each sleep is bathed in moonlight
Care, Learning and Play:
From finding our first steps to finishing our first puzzle, you’ll create and oversee positive, warm, caring and safe relationships between babies and staff
Foster a love for learning through play, creativity, and exploration
Offer rich learning opportunities through play and playful teaching
Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Manage mealtimes with majesty, feed with a touch of fairy dust, toilet train with tales of nappies gone by, wipe noses with fluffy clouds, and clean hands with bubbles of joy
Maintain a safe and hygienic room
Conduct risk assessments and follow our health and safety policies and guidelines
Safeguard children, and have a sound working knowledge of the EYFS
Distribute warm hugs as needed (warning: side effects may include coos and giggles)
Communication
Communicate effectively with staff and parents alike, sharing insights into their baby’s day, celebrating their progress and achievements
Work co-operatively with other practitioners and assistant staff
Lead in planning and evaluating the nursery activities and routines
Share all of the magic and wonder of the week in your own baby room section of our newsletter
Training
We’re always learning (A is for acorn, B is for butterfly)…
As well as the required safeguarding and first aid training, we’ll offer lots of additional support from Surrey Early Years, The National Day Nursery Association, Parenta, and our other training providers.
Standard childcare recruitment practice applies, including following our safer recruitment policy and procedures, a DBS check, identity check, qualification check and we will kindly ask for two references.
Skills / Qualifications:
Approved NVQL3 or above
Experience of leading a room
Ideally experience of working with babies
