Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Women’s Mental Health
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist, trauma-informed, therapeutic input into treatment pathways for women in secure care.
- Offer specialist advice, supervision, training, and consultation through outreach provision to prevent avoidable admissions and support timelier discharges.
- Provide specialist support to external services (often non-secure and community-based) in risk management and pathway planning.
- Support service users transitioning from secure care, by providing support to placement providers and clinical teams during transition and first few months post-discharge.
- Provide specialist therapeutic input into Womens Secure Blended Service, supporting acute pathway development focusing on stabilisation of high-risk behaviours.
- Support the development of low-level psychological and occupational therapeutic groups, training programmes for ward staff, and service initiatives supporting risk behaviour formulation and management.
- Support ongoing education, training, supervision, and support of inpatient staff to enhance expertise and confidence in working with high-risk behaviours, mental health, and personality disorders.
- Provide specialist, evidence-based, psychological interventions as needed to support service users’ ongoing recovery.
