Senior Health and Safety Advisor – Old Oak Common Project
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Business Unit strategy to deliver Safe at Heart.
- Provide project teams with expert HSW technical advice, guidance, and support.
- Collaboratively engage with internal & external customers and the supply chain for zero harm delivery.
- Undertake regular site inspections and produce formal reports using the Project Portal.
- Regularly check Health and Safety Risk Management, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Provide expert support for accident, incident, and near miss investigations, adhering to Balfour Beatty Group Standards and HS2 requirements.
- Engage and develop relationships with design & engineering teams to reduce HSW risks through design.
- Innovate and improve working methods, promoting industry change and successes.
- Provide support and mentoring to other HSW colleagues.
- Promote Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Policy, Values, aspirations, Golden Rules, HS2 Values, and commitments.
Skills and Expertise
- Relevant Health & Safety Diploma, NVQ, or Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification).
- Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture.
- Project planning, project management, and budget management skills.
- Competence in incident investigation.
- Ability to prepare formal written reports on HSW topics.
- Broad experience of complex construction and civils projects (or equivalent sector experience).
