Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting stakeholders with specialist legal advice, representation, and assistance in planning, property, and procurement matters.
  • Attending the Councils Planning Committee meeting monthly.
  • Contributing to the delivery of the Councils corporate plan.

Skills and Expertise

  • Proven experience in Planning law (drafting planning enforcement notices, planning advice, certificate of lawfulness, planning committees).
  • Experience with commercial property matters (acquisitions, sales, commercial leases).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal officers and external stakeholders (courts, barristers, professional bodies, members of the public).
  • Ability to handle a large and varied complex caseload.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to innovate, create, and act strategically and practically.
  • Resilience, enthusiasm, personal diplomacy, and self-motivation.
  • Qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate.
  • Local government experience is desirable.
