Senior Solicitor – Broxtowe Borough Council
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting stakeholders with specialist legal advice, representation, and assistance in planning, property, and procurement matters.
- Attending the Councils Planning Committee meeting monthly.
- Contributing to the delivery of the Councils corporate plan.
Skills and Expertise
- Proven experience in Planning law (drafting planning enforcement notices, planning advice, certificate of lawfulness, planning committees).
- Experience with commercial property matters (acquisitions, sales, commercial leases).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal officers and external stakeholders (courts, barristers, professional bodies, members of the public).
- Ability to handle a large and varied complex caseload.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to innovate, create, and act strategically and practically.
- Resilience, enthusiasm, personal diplomacy, and self-motivation.
- Qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate.
- Local government experience is desirable.
