Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve nutritional, balanced, and appealing meals.
  • Provide special diets, considering individual preferences and needs.
  • Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients’ nutritional and dietary needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas, and dining room.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations.
  • Handle, maintain, and store kitchen equipment according to Cygnet procedures.
  • Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

Skills and Expertise

  • Skilled Chef with ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience in the care sector (preferred).
  • Able to plan nourishing and attractive menus within budgets.
  • Hold a food hygiene certificate with good personal hygiene standards.
  • Polite, professional, positive attitude towards internal and external guests.
  • Excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Able to work independently, as part of a team, and under supervision.
  • Qualified in catering to City & Guilds 706: 1 & 2 level or NVQ Level 2/3
  • Adherence to infection control and cleanliness policies.
