Role Purpose:
We aim to give learners the best possible learning experience and opportunity to succeed.
This role is responsible for the development and improvement of our end-to-end learner journey and the associated operating policies, procedures and practices through staff development and supporting the review of existing procedures and practices to identify areas for improvement and introduction of new processes where identified
This role is responsible for the design, implementation and delivery of a comprehensive programme of learning and development for all operational colleagues to ensure policies, procedures and practices are fully and effectively implemented, reducing incidents of non-compliance and improving the overall learner experience.
Role Accountabilities:
Ownership of the end-to end learner journey, ensuring that key processes, policies and working practices are fit for purpose and support effective and efficient operational delivery. Identify opportunities to improve the end-to-end learner journey to improve our operational effectiveness and impact and enhance the learner experience
Support with the development and maintenance of the Operations Manual – ensuring it accurately reflects the entire end-to-end learner journey, associated policies, key processes and working practices
Develop and document key operational processes, and working practices across the business, working with other senior managers. Design and implement training and development activities to ensure colleagues understand the operational practices and are always fully compliant with them.
Engagement of the wider teams to analyse, improve, and adapt existing processes and workflows for effective operational delivery and to ensure they are fit for purpose, and fully compliant with contractual requirements.
Lead on the design, development and implementation of resources and training aligning to agreed strategies, policies and practices to support the introduction of new learner development initiatives to ensure they are fully embedded in working practices, e.g. Metaskills
Using the Operations Calendar responsible for the design, development, maintenance and effective implementation of new/refreshed business processes and working instructions, as well as learner and employer resources e.g., apprentice induction, mentor handbook.
Support the development of plans and projects that will address areas for improvement.
Work with the operational managers and other senior managers to review and improve ways of working, agreeing colleague development.
Personally support and coach others to ensure they have a full understanding of the end-to-end learner journey and how they contribute to its effective delivery and lead others to deliver the high standards we have set for ourselves.
Lead on the day to day join up with the quality improvement team in Scotland to ensure that new processes, or any new training reflects the findings of ongoing quality monitoring.
Support the effective induction of all new operational delivery colleagues – ensuring they fully understand our standards, our ways of working, and SDS contractual requirements. Link in with L&D team where appropriate.
Training and delivery
In conjunction with quality team and senior managers:
Support the design and development of resources to support operational colleagues and ensuring processes map effectively across relevant teams.
Conduct TNA and work with teams to support planning and delivery of development sessions.
Support the design, development and implementation of, plans and activities to support English and mathematics for apprentices.
Develop training support resources in line with SDS quality and compliance requirements e.g. introduction of metaskills
Create processes to track learning and development progress and achievements. Where appropriate, linking in with the L&D team
General:
Develop and deliver regular communication across the organisation on development to support improved operational delivery
Knowledge Skills & Experience
Essential:
Experience of designing and delivery bespoke training to a range of key stakeholders
Experience of working with, or strong understanding of additional learning support
Experience of apprenticeship delivery
Coaching and/or mentoring qualification
Ability to identify areas for development through observation skills and data analysis
Significant experience of:
Developing and leading strategy while in an operational environment
Coaching and motivating teams, identifying and supporting development pathways for the team
Due to the travel requirement of this role, the post holder must hold a full UK Driving Licence. National travel is required.
Desirable:
Experience of continuous improvement methodologies
Previous experience with a private training provider is advantageous
Knowledge of learning support relating to funding requirements
Special Conditions/Other Requirements:
Full UK driving licence to enable extensive travel across Scotland
Willing and able to work non-standard hours as and when necessary
Overnight stays – expected to visit each college delivery partners on a regular basis and to support operational teams
