Youth Activity Leader – YMCA Doncaster

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, wellbeing, and social activities for children and young people (5-25) aligned with pilot or funded projects.
  • Ensure effective behaviour management and address issues in a psychologically-informed manner.
  • Log and monitor all activity, maintaining financial and efficiency records.
  • Contribute to consultations on new programs, providing data, evidence, and input for support cases.
  • Organise and/or attend events to promote YMCA Doncasters offerings to young people and supporters.
  • Ensure participants are aware of the full range of YMCA Doncaster programs.
  • Manage equipment and resources.
  • Supervise placements and volunteers as needed.
  • Adhere to YMCA Doncaster’s safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries with staff, clients, and others.
  • Complete additional duties as required to meet YMCA Doncasters needs.

Skills and Expertise

  • Experience leading children and young people, including those with vulnerabilities, in creative, wellbeing, or social activities.
  • Experience engaging and building rapport with a diverse range of children and young people.
  • Understanding of appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, and safeguarding practice with young people.
  • Experience in effective behaviour management.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance to maintain consistent program provision.
  • Strong IT skills and comfort with new technologies.
  • Confidence in maintaining basic financial records and data monitoring.
  • Strong written communication skills for reports and case studies.
  • Excellent administration and organizational skills for managing a varied workload and meeting targets.
  • Flexible approach to delivering funded and pilot programs.
  • Experience working within organizational procedures.
  • Ability to represent the Association positively, professionally, and credibly.

Hours of Work

Mondays and Tuesdays, 5.5 hours per day, between 2pm and 9pm, with varied hours as needed for each term’s program.
