Solution Architect – Edinburgh
Key Responsibilities
- Define high-level technical architecture and design for assigned scope to deliver business outcomes and meet long-term strategy.
- Define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision for end-to-end designs, potentially spanning multiple platforms and domains.
- Influence and promote collaboration across platform and domain teams on solution delivery.
- Elaborate solutions and interfaces, validate technology assumptions, evaluate implementation alternatives, and create continuous delivery pipelines.
- Analyze options and deliver end-to-end solution designs using relevant building blocks and designs for frequent incremental delivery of customer value.
- Own technical design issues and drive resolution through iteration of the technical solution design.
- Participate in shaping requirements, validating designs and prototypes to deliver change aligned with target architecture.
- Promote adaptive design practices to drive feature team collaboration around a common technical vision using continuous feedback.
- Make recommendations of potential impacts to existing and prospective customers regarding latest technology and customer trends.
Skills and Expertise
- Expert knowledge of application architecture and business data or infrastructure architecture.
- Working knowledge of industry architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate).
- Understanding of Agile and contemporary methodologies with experience in Agile teams.
- Experience defining application architectures and roadmaps for complex solutions across all technical architecture layers.
- Experience delivering solutions that securely span a complex infrastructure domain.
- Experience with systems development change lifecycles, best practices, and proven experience designing solutions on public cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
- Knowledge of hardware, software, applications, systems engineering, cloud, event streaming, microservices, and APIs.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly to peers and leadership.
