Public Health Nurse 5-19 – Band 6
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and supervising Public Health Nursing 5-19 team members to deliver universal, targeted, and specialist care to children and young people, adhering to the Healthy Child and Young People Public Health Nursing Programme.
- Working with children, young people, and families in school, community, or home settings to promote and provide healthcare needs.
- Playing an integral role in safeguarding children and young people, conducting health assessments for Children Looked After and Safeguarded children, following appropriate safeguarding processes.
- Covering duty, assessing, triaging, planning, and implementing healthcare as appropriate in accordance with Trust Guidelines and the Healthy Child Programme.
- Demonstrating an evidence-based approach to practice, supporting the Team Lead and Clinical Quality Lead in service delivery and development.
- Attending local liaison meetings, undertaking health promotion/education activities, and completing appraisals and one-to-one sessions.
Skills and Expertise
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) or School Nursing experience
- Proven leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse clients, professionals, and staff
- Experience with electronic record keeping (advantageous, but training provided)
- Valid driving licence and access to a car (unless disabled)
- Enhanced child and adult DBS certificate
