Paediatric Audiologist – Ealing

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake full Audiological assessments of older children, including complex and non-routine cases.
  • Carry out full history taking and diagnostic test batteries (otoscopy, pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions, speech discrimination tests).
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively with Senior Audiologists.
  • Participate in regular peer reviews.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Audiology Team Lead and wider team.
  • Record outcomes into the current database and generate reports.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and generate clinical reports.
  • Analyse results, determine next diagnostic steps, and problem-solve inconsistencies.
  • Generate appropriate referrals to other specialities (ENT, Tier 3).
  • Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to optimise service delivery.
  • Notify the Audiology Team Lead of equipment issues and liaise with the administrator for calibration.
  • Identify risk factors at community sites and advise the Audiology Team Lead.
  • Attend 1:1 meetings, team meetings, and peer review meetings.
  • Attend mandatory training, engage in appraisal and clinical supervision.
  • Undertake other ad hoc duties as directed by the Audiology Team Leads and Service manager.
  • Manage distressed or angry parents/young people sensitively.
  • Provide expert advice to other staff, teachers of the hearing impaired, speech therapists, health visitors, ENT consultants, and others.
  • Perform hearing screenings in schools (when required).
  • Record hearing assessment outcomes, generate referrals, and notify parents/carers.
  • Communicate and liaise with school staff during school screenings.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Skills and Expertise

  • Expert clinical knowledge of all Audiology tests.
  • Ability to perform Audiology tests autonomously and skilfully.
  • Desirable experience in Paediatric Audiology.
  • BSc in Audiology or other nationally recognised qualification.
  • Registration with AHCS (ex RCCP).
