Manufacturing Head Gloucestershire
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management for effective production and on-time delivery of all products at the Hardwicke site.
- Manage all aspects of the Hardwicke site operations, including planned and reactive maintenance, site security, and neighbour relations.
- Assist and lead the expansion of the production facility, working closely with the COO to efficiently procure and manage the fit-out process.
- Ensure cost-effective production with leadership of procurement.
- Lead the procurement process for all production aspects and post-occupation care.
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
- Ensure compliance with BOPAS certification and processes.
- Monitor product standards and implement quality-control programmes.
- Drive a continuous improvement culture across manufacturing processes.
- Champion Health and Safety to ensure full compliance of teams in all manufacturing areas, including conducting operative inductions for new starters.
- Ensure adherence to production plans and deadlines through accurate forecasting and data analysis, taking actions or providing recommendations to improve performance.
- Work with all functions to achieve lean best practice while maintaining ethical standards.
- Assist in recruitment and management of factory employees.
- Provide input to design changes for the MMC product range.
- Liaise with HMP Leyhill and the Probation Service regarding prisoners and ex-offender staff.
- Interface with CEO, COO, and Board of Directors as needed.
Skills and Expertise
- Extensive production management experience/knowledge in a manufacturing environment, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Sound technical/industrial manufacturing knowledge.
- Exposure to MMC or construction industry (preferred but not essential).
- Strong leadership, team building, and influencing skills.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, and new production line set up and management experience.
- Excellent business acumen with strong knowledge of Health & Safety and BOPAS.
- Experience driving Process Improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Practical Process Improvement, etc.).
- Resource & Capacity Planning
- Inventory Management & Control Techniques
- Willingness to be hands-on.
- Comfort working with prisoners and/or ex-offenders.
- Effective leadership, cross-functional collaboration with factory staff and senior management.
- Team player with flexibility in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to take ownership, act autonomously, and meet production deadlines.
