Key Responsibilities

• Fit, join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material using appropriate welding techniques.
• Perform welding duties using a wire welder.
• Weld steel components according to layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
• Set-up, lay out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layout to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.
• Assist fitters or welders in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.
• Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torches, and other related hand tools.
• Inspect and correct welds to meet product specifications.
• Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.
• Cross-train and perform other job tasks in addition to the primary role.
• Inspect equipment and report any needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Perform a variety of complicated tasks as required.

Skills and Expertise

• Familiarity with welding concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, and read engineering drawings.
• Thorough knowledge of welding equipment (torches, tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves, gas cylinders).
• Tape measurement and engineering drawing reading skills.
• MIG & Stick welding experience preferred.
• Heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
