Key Responsibilities
- Undertake surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations, and patient visits, in line with Practice timetable.
- Check and sign repeat prescriptions and manage patient queries, paperwork, and correspondence.
- Make autonomous decisions regarding patient presenting problems.
- Assess and address health needs of patients with undifferentiated/undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Contribute to QOF and PCN requirements by recording appropriate data.
- Develop care plans for health-related illnesses, in consultation with patients.
- Screen patients for health education needs.
- Admit, discharge, and refer patients to other care providers as necessary.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes.
- Collect data for audit purposes and contribute notes to the practice audit programme.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe in accordance with the accepted prescribing formulary, when clinically appropriate.
- Coordinate aspects of governance, QOF, enhanced services, CPD and keep clinical protocols up to date.
- Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities of a GP in primary care, as set by relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., Royal College of General Practitioners, GMC).
