Communications and Engagement Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of new branding, creating a strong visual and written identity for the programme.
  • Support the training team in developing training materials that reflect the programme’s identity.
  • Manage all communications disciplines, from strategic planning to delivery.
  • Manage website and social media presence, including copywriting and content creation.
  • Lead communications for the programme and support organisations to raise awareness of the Armed Forces community.
  • Be a subject-matter expert in communications and engagement at national level.
  • Act as a brand guardian for the programme and wider NHS, ensuring brand guidelines are followed.
  • Offer guidance to the team in achieving a consistent approach to communications.
  • Report progress against national and organisational plans using effective communications.
  • Support the priorities of Healthcare for the Armed Forces community and the Office of Veterans Affairs Veterans Strategy Action Plan.
  • Develop the Veteran Aware brand alongside the VCHA programme aims.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensure high-quality work supporting the delivery of the programme on time, to quality standards, and cost-effectively.
  • Attend regular team meetings to monitor progress against KPIs.
  • Create, develop, and manage content on the VCHA website.
  • Evolve and implement the programme communications strategy.
  • Develop content for awareness moments.
  • Produce content toolkits for accredited organisations to support consistent national communications.
  • Manage programme social media accounts.
  • Produce and disseminate news articles, press releases, and online information.
  • Develop communications products (posters, leaflets, photographs, videos).
  • Advise and manage media risk mitigation and act as a brand guardian.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings, note discussions, and record agreed actions.
  • Attend in-person events (conferences, breakfast clubs).
