Practice Nurse
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior staff and GPs
- Cytology
- Wound care / ulcer care/Doppler
- Removal of Sutures and clips
- New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Asthma, COPD, Diabetes (trained to manage at least one chronic condition)
- Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations and managing recall systems
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Coronary Heart Disease management with referral to GPs as appropriate
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
- Administer Injections like B12, Depo, Nebido, Clexane, Zoladex, Pneumonia, Shingles & Flu
- As Infection Control Lead, carry out audits monthly and annual
- Check GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Checking emergency equipment and fridge temp
- Responsible for Drug Box, First aid box and oxygen
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- Maintain accurate records
- Advise senior staff of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
- Undertake home visits on occasion
- Attend any training as required and participate in Nurse Meetings, clinical meetings, Practice Meeting
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
- Supervise any junior/new member of the team
