Senior Care Assistant – Nights
Key Responsibilities
- Providing the highest possible levels of care in supporting and assisting residents in all aspects of daily living.
- Promoting resident independence with a focus on choice, dignity, and respect, alongside promoting physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Leading shift to ensure high standards are maintained and team members feel supported.
- Completing daily medication rounds and documenting consistently without errors.
- Ensuring daily charts are completed to a high standard.
- Promoting good practice and challenging poor practice.
- Conducting one-to-ones for care and support team members.
- Investigating complaints and concerns.
Skills and Expertise
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Registered Nurse or NVQ level 3 minimum).
- Minimum of two years experience as a Care Assistant in a residential/nursing home setting.
- Awareness of Person-Centred Care Planning principles.
- Understanding of abuse prevention, recognition of abuse signs, and procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Leadership skills.
- Excellent people skills.
- Caring and nurturing attitude.
- Positive and enthusiastic outlook.
- Good time management skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Prepared to take on extra training.
- Experience in a similar role in a nursing home (preferred).
- Experience caring for residents with dementia (preferred).
- NVQ Level 4 in Adult Health and Social Care or above (preferred).
- Knowledge of National Care Standards Act 2000 (preferred).
- Experience managing a team (preferred).
