Clinical Psychologist
Key Responsibilities
- Provide highly specialist psychology services to children, young people, families, and carers, including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, and monitoring of outcomes.
- Contribute to creating a psychologically safe environment for staff, service users, and carers from diverse backgrounds.
- Provide clinical supervision and consultation as a lead specialist in Psychology.
- Undertake service evaluation, audit, and research.
- Work autonomously within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct, and Trust policies and procedures.
- Agree outcomes and results with clinical/professional leads and determine best implementation strategies.
- Provide highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions for clients, including assessments for psychosis, learning disabilities, personality disorders, offending behaviour, etc. (PG Diploma level).
- Provide culturally appropriate interventions with carers and families of referred clients.
- Assess and monitor risk, and develop appropriate risk management plans.
- Act as care/CPA coordinator, keyworker, initiating, planning, and reviewing care plans, coordinating CPA, and attending meetings.
- Contribute to the effective working of the team and service, utilizing a psychologically informed framework.
- Contribute to the delivery of accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities.
- Challenge discrimination and support the development of culturally competent services.
- Advise other service members on specialist psychological care.
- Receive regular clinical and professional supervision.
- Ensure own Continuing Professional Development in line with BPS, Trust, and HCPC standards.
- Contribute to the allocation and/or clinical supervision of more junior psychologists.
- Supervise trainee applied psychologists.
- Contribute to the appraisal of more junior psychologists, as needed.
- Contribute to the recruitment of more junior psychologists, as needed.
- Provide supervision for the psychological work of other multi-disciplinary staff.
- Implement policies and procedures, and propose improvements.
- Contribute to service development through projects.
- Contribute to service user consultation and engagement in planning and service delivery.
- Carefully utilize Trust equipment and resources.
- Liaise with referrers, GPs, and other professionals to develop and review care plans.
- Utilize theory, evidence-based literature, and research to support evidence-based practice.
